How to Get Traffic to Your Website

Getting traffic to your website is THE most difficult part of website ownership.
All the experts will tell you to optimize for search engines, get back links, and post on blogs. And all of those are good advice.
The experts that tell the whole truth will tell you what I am telling you -
You're going to have to PAY!
There are 2 main ways to pay for traffic:
PPC and Buy Targeted Hits
I use targeted hit for my websites because it give me a large volume of people dropping in and they are looking for the information I have.
Targeted visitors are already on the way to making a purchase. You must reach these visitors at the right step in the purchasing process. If you have an informational content site, most people will arrive there looking for info, doing research before purchasing. My goal is to have articles or how-tos one to a page. As the reader progresses, offers are mingled into the text. Half way through I put a banner, at the end, a call to action.
This is a technique I have just learned. I am making every page of my site a landing page.
I want an email sign up and or a SALE form on each page.
However, I don't want to care my visitors away with constant sales pitches. I hate that and so does everyone else! No, i want gentle persuasion.
I am reformatting my website to meet this new goal. I takes time, and some imagination. It is a long process to do this for an established website.
So, from now on when I create an new sales website I will use the formula I have learned.
1) Powerful Headline
2) State the Problem
3) Present the Solution
4) Ask for the Order (call-to-action)
5) Include the email sign up to build your email list.
I am sure you have seen "squeeze" pages. Single minded sites that
do the hard sell and leave you no way to get off the page unless you
fill out a form or make a purchase. That is the style I want for each
page on my site but toned down about 50%.
I'll keep track of every hit with google analytics, webmaster tools,
adsense, and google site search. Also, I use addthis for sharing,
a facebook like at the bottom of every page PLUS a facebook
comment area.
I have seen my page rank go up and up as I implement
these functions on my website (this site has gone from
a 0 to PR3 in two months). Doing all of these things
in tandem is beginning to get me the sales I have always
wanted. In my next article I will discuss Pay Per Click.
