Titles are short descriptions of each page that are included in the META TAGS. Each page should have a unique title that is relevant to the subject of the page. Additionally, the titles can and should include the most important or relevant keywords.

Keywords are individual words and short phrases that describe what the page is about. They can reference subject matter, product description, location, people, and more.

Titles and keywords help consumers find your web site, individual web pages, and help search engines categorize and list your site. They are a MUST HAVE! (yes, even if the search engine doesn't use them... There are search engines who do, so you need to have them!)

We include titles and keywords with every website design. They are included in the price of designing the site. We also include: robots.txt, sitemap.xml which are also used by google and other search bots to categorize your site.

Place the most important keywords or keyword phrases at the beginning of the tag and keep your title short, roughly 10 to 64 characters including spaces. Try to minimize the use of stop words, such as a, an, of, on, etc., as they consume character count and offer no value.

Similar to the Meta Description tag, there is a limit in the number of captured characters within the Keywords Meta tag. Keep the tag to between 4 and 8 keywords or keyword phrases, to separate the different keywords and keyword phases simply place a comma between the terms.

For the search engines that may still take this tag into consideration when determining rankings, move the most important keywords to the beginning to increase their prominence, make sure that the keywords appear at least once in your page content and avoid repetitions to avoid spam penalties.


Although many search engines, including Google don't use keywords because of spamming, having a lot of repitions can penalize your site's ranking for spamming.

Make sure you put the most important keywords first.
