WHAT'S WITH GOOGLE?

It seems like there is an update on google's methods every week. Do you become confused and frustrated with all the changes? I know I do, and it is a big job to keep up. Here are some ways you can keep up with google's changing methods:

1.	Web Master Tools - these free tools allow you to analyze deep details of your web site and how it is performing. It also covers site errors, from meta tags to crawl errors.
2.	Google Blog - up to the minute news and changes, plus great advice makes this blog a must read!
3.	Webmaster Help Forum - find the answers you need by searching this extensive forum.
4.	Google SEO Starter Guide - this pdf document covers what you need to know to get starter maximizing your web sites optimization.

Although google is a search engine, it is so much more. Do yourself a favor and get to know as much as you can about google expectations for your web site.

Google Local

Google Local is part of the search directory and is a huge MUST if you have a business online. Many people search for businesses in their area. Why shouldn't you get a peice of that pie? Adding your site to Google Local isn't hard, but it is a bit convoluted. Here is how you go about it:

•	Go to Google Business Solutions.
•	Sign up for an account, or sign in. Return to the Google Business Solutions page when you are finished.
•	Click on Google Places.
•	Click on Add a Business.
•	Enter the required information, follow the instructions on the screen.
•	You will have to verify your business, either by phone or with a post card.
•	When you receive your verification, click the verify link or enter the url on the postcard. Then enter your verification number.
•	You can create coupons and so forth to bring more customers.
•	Keep your listing up to date, make sure your phone, address, email is always current.
